DAY OF THE TRIFFIDS - One of the assignments in my second year at the Kubert School was to draw a 3-page adaptation of a song. I chose “Day of the Triffids” by Ash because I love the band and the song had a cool narrative to it that left plenty of room for interpretation. I didn’t have as much time to spend on the pages as I would’ve liked and I always wanted to redraw them if I got the chance.  Twenty three years later, I had just finished up work on Bloodrik and was itching to draw and ink something completely different (Bloodrik is all pencil and I hadn’t inked something in a while). I found the original pages (right and below) while digging through an old portfolio and decided to start working up a new version. I had a blast with these.

BLOODRIK - Bloodrik is angry, confused and starving. Finding nothing but failure in his usual hunting grounds, the woodsman stomps his way into unfamiliar territory in an attempt to feed his stomach and heal his wounded ego. What he finds there will lead him on a journey of madness, violence, fire and BLOOD! Below are 12 preview pages from the first issue of a three-issue miniseries. A collection of all three issues will be available from Image comics this June.
